There are several companies today utilizing keyword articles in exposing their ventures to the world. It does not matter whether you are a netpreneur that is seeking to market your products, or a freelancer that is seeking writing jobs; keyword articles afford you some great benefits that will help you in your quest.

What is the reason for keywords? The truth is that there are several internet users around the world looking for one piece of information or the other. These people, search for this information by using keywords. They input some specific search terms into search engines. You may end up losing potential customers if you do not learn how to use keywords to your advantage.

Probably you have never written a keyword article in the past. Do not despair as the process is not too different from the regular articles you write. You therefore do not have any excuse to deter you from writing keyword articles. There are some steps that you can take to assist you in writing keyword articles, some of which are outlined below:

1.   Learn trending words
Every subject of interest has its own common trending words. If you are knowledgeable in a particular field, it shouldn’t be difficult for you to find these words. However, if it is a field you are not familiar with, you can easily do a short research to find out. You can read about four to five articles on the subject so you can get familiar with the common terms used. For example, if you are to write about keyword articles, there are some words that should appear in your article such as “keyword article”, “keyword”, “web content”, “article writing”. I know this because I have read quite a number of articles on this subject and know that these are the terminologies that are often used.

2.  Write the article and ignore the keywords
It is advisable that you initially write the article without paying attention to the keywords. This is important in order to effectively maintain the flow of your article. Just read about the subject matter and write by combining your words with great artistry. If you do this, then you can be sure that the keywords will naturally find their place in your article provided you know the subject matter.

3. Choose your keywords
After you have done your initial draft, this is the time when you can decide on the series of keywords that you will be interspersed throughout your article. You can easily do this by carefully thinking out the search terms that a potential internet user will use to look for the information you are providing. What are the words or phrases that will be inserted in search engines? If you are to write an article on email marketing for example, you will realize that the likely search terms people will often use to look for information will include phrases such as “email newsletter” and “drip list” just to mention a few.

4. Determine how popular your keywords are
It is important that you do not just use keywords, but you should first determine how popular the keywords are. This entails finding out how frequent internet users around the world search the internet using the specific keywords. There is an internet tool that can be used to do this in no time and it is called the Overture Keyword Selector Tool and is available at http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/. All you need do is to type in your keywords and it will show you the rank. The rank shows how popular the keyword is.

5. Choose specific keywords
It is important that you choose specific keywords that are closely related to your article than picking some general one. Assuming I want to write an article about the fees charged by freelance copywriters. In order to get a high rank in search engines, I will have to use some very specific keywords related to what I want to write such as “freelance copywriting rates” as opposed to using general keywords such as “freelance copywriting”. “Freelance copywriting” is a more general keyword and will most likely bring thousands of sites that are using the keyword, making my article unlikely to be seen.

6. Scan your article for the keywords
After writing your article, it is important that you scan it to check for your keywords. Do this for each of your keyword and decide how many times it appears in your article. If you are well knowledgeable in what you are writing about, it should be easy for you to find the keywords in your article.

7. Locate and change some words
Assuming you have written about copywriting, it is most likely that your article will contain words like “writing”. You must realise that “copywriting” is the word commonly used by internet marketers, and it is therefore expedient that it is used as one of the keywords in your article. Locate the places where you have used the word “writing” or “writer” and use “copywriting” or “copywriter” instead. Apply similar changes to all your keywords or keyword phrases.

8. Proofread your article
It is important that you check through your article for grammatical errors, spelling mistakes and repetitions. Even though you are using keywords, it does not mean that some ideas should be repeated in your article. Your article should not be dull; it should be keyword-rich. You have to be creative and know how to vary your ideas to avoid repetitions.

9. Make your title keyword-rich
You may be wondering why I am mentioning the title in the last step. This is because the best time to come up with your article title is at the end of your article because this is the time you have a full understanding of how your article looks.
It is important that you use some of your keywords in your title so that your article can rank higher in search engines. Using keywords in your article does not waste time. Just creatively combine your words in a way that the reader will easily understand what your article is about. If for example I want to write about freelance copywriting rates. I can use a title like “Freelance Copywriting: How to Negotiate Rates”. This is a great title that has keywords in it and clearly explains what the article is about.

I believe learning these steps will make it easier for you to write keyword articles. Now you can get to business and start earning some cash writing articles that will be seen by your potential customers.
